Maspalomas Gay Nightlife and Beach

Yumbo

Gay nightlife in Maspalomas is centred on the Yumbo Centrum in Playa del Inglés. This unique shopping complex transforms at night into the hub of bars, clubs, and terraces. The atmosphere is international, social, and easy to navigate, with dozens of venues side by side. Many gay restaurants are also located around Yumbo, making it simple to combine dinner with drinks before heading upstairs to the clubs. Early in the week, especially Monday and Tuesday, things are a little quieter. On weekends, local gay guys from Las Palmas join the scene, and Yumbo fills with energy until the early hours.

Start the evening at Yumbo’s many gay bars and cafés. Most have outdoor terraces, perfect for people-watching and meeting friends over drinks. Some serve food as well, making them a relaxed way to ease into the night before moving on to the clubs or exploring the cruise bars later.

Outside Yumbo

There are some bars outside the Yumbo Center. Very popular are the after beach cakes at Café Wien, located on level 2 of Shopping center Cita. The other popular after beach place is Strandapotheke. This party bar located at the beach near the lighthouse in Faro (on the way back from the beach)

Dancing

The small but busy gay clubs on the upper levels at Yumbo get busy late and keep the energy high until morning. DJs, themed nights, and dance floors filled with international crowds set the tone. Most visitors move from the bars to the clubs around midnight, when the atmosphere really takes off and the weekend vibe peaks.

Mykonos

Gay bar Mykonos is located on the 4th level of Yumbo. The bar is part of the block Tubos and club Mantrix, all owned by the same owner and sharing staff and facilities.

Mykonos is a music video bar. The bar gets going after about 1am and closes already at 3.30. After that people are supposed to move to club Mantrix.

The balcony outside is a popular hangout. The bar features male only toilets, including some private cabins.

Price level is relative high compared to rest of Yumbo. A doorman checks if people bring drinks from other places.

Tubos

Tubos is part of a block of 3 gay bars / clubs located that are located in a corner on the 4th level of Yumbo. The other 2 places are Mykonos and club Mantrix. They all have the same owner and staff.

Tubos plays non stop music videos on large screens. There is a small dance floor. Outside there is a balcony, which is a popular spot to sit, stand and hang out.

Drink prices are relative high compared to other places in Yumbo. Usually a doorman checks for people bringing drinks from other places to the balcony.

The 4th level gets going later at night (at around 1). The 2 bars close at 3.30am and then people have to move to club Mantrix.

These bars get really busy in weekends, when also local Canary boys visit the Yumbo.

Mantrix

Mykonos and Tubos close at 3, so then the whole crowd moves to the next door club Mantrix. 2 Bars, spacious dancefloor, tv's, state of the art light & sound, cloak check, multiple leather sofas, large darkroom with cabins & videos and sexy & friendly staff

Cruising in the dunes

Maspalomas is also famous for its gay beach and dunes. During the day, guys gather at Kiosk 7 behind the dunes for sun, sea, and socialising. The dunes themselves double as a cruising area. Together, the beach and dunes form the daytime extension of Maspalomas’s gay scene.
