Yumbo is officially a shopping center. But after 5 in the afternoon it transforms in an entertainment and nightlife complex. With many restaurants, terraces and bars. 

After dinner, around 10 at night, most people sit down at one of the terraces of the big gay bars on the ground floor for a beer and some entertainment. Popular ones are Junior, Adonis and Wunderbar Every night, Coco Loco Ricky's Cabaret Bar  and Sparkles Show Bar  hosts popular karaoke shows and drag queen entertainment. 

Outside Yumbo

There are some bars outside the Yumbo Center. Very popular are the after beach cakes at Café Wien, located on level 2 of Shopping center Cita. The other popular after beach place is Strandapotheke. This party bar located at the beach near the lighthouse in Faro (on the way back from the beach)

Gay dance bars and clubs

The dance bars are located on level 2 and 4 of Yumbo (in Spanish planta dos y cuatro) . These places open after dinner time (late) and get going from after midnight or later.

Dancing

After one, most of the young people are off to the video bars at the top floor Mykonos and Tubos To finish the night of, the dancing crowd ends at club Mantrix. On the other side of Yumbo Centrum you'll find some more bars and clubs which get going late and go on till late at night, like Coco Loco.

Mykonos

Mykonos

Gay bar Mykonos is located on the 4th level of Yumbo. The bar is part of the block Tubos and club Mantrix, all owned by the same owner and sharing staff and facilities.

Mykonos is a music video bar. The bar gets going after about 1am and closes already at 3.30. After that people are supposed to move to club Mantrix.

The balcony outside is a popular hangout. The bar features male only toilets, including some private cabins.

Price level is relative high compared to rest of Yumbo. A doorman checks if people bring drinks from other places.

Tubos

Tubos is part of a block of 3 gay bars / clubs located that are located in a corner on the 4th level of Yumbo. The other 2 places are Mykonos and club Mantrix. They all have the same owner and staff.

Tubos plays non stop music videos on large screens. There is a small dance floor. Outside there is a balcony, which is a popular spot to sit, stand and hang out.

Drink prices are relative high compared to other places in Yumbo. Usually a doorman checks for people bringing drinks from other places to the balcony.

The 4th level gets going later at night (at around 1). The 2 bars close at 3.30am and then people have to move to club Mantrix.

These bars get really busy in weekends, when also local Canary boys visit the Yumbo.

Gay cruising clubs

Most gay nightlife is situated in the Yumbo, but some of the cruising clubs are located elsewhere. But all within a short walking distance.

Gay beach and dunes


Cruising in the dunes

Behind the gay beach are the famous sand dunes of Gran Canaria. They are not only beautiful for photos, but the many bushes are cruisy as well. It gets busy at around four o'clock, many guys leave the beach for a short and refreshing walk trough the the dunes, to explore the beauty and magnitude of gay nature. Some men camp here for the day instead at the beach, being out of the wind at wait for the catch of the day. Don't go there at night and watch out for police, sometimes they drive around in small 4x4 vehicles.
