Amsterdam gay bars and clubs

Gay nightlife in Amsterdam

The Amsterdam gay scene is lively and vivid. The gay street has developed into a great pedestrian area with many gay bars, restaurants and terraces.

This first page of our guide to Amsterdam gay nightlife is about the bars. Use the drop down above to see the pages about the cruise bars and the popular fetish club, or all info about the gay sauna. Large gay  dance and circuit parties happen about once or twice a month. See all info about the parties and clubs in the dance section.

Amsterdam is a very international city, with nationalities from almost every country in the world living here. The city is full of expats and lots of tourists all year round. So English has become the unofficial second language. It shouldn't be too difficult to make contact with the locals.

Gay bars and cafes

There are relatively many gay bars in Amsterdam. All places are located in the city center and are on walking distance from each other.

The main gay street is Reguliersdwarsstraat. In this pedestrian only area you you find the mainstream bars with terraces, open all year round. The main bars are Taboo, Soho and Bar Blend.

Bar Prik is located behind Dam square, and is a popular hangout from early evening for locals and tourists, both gays and lesbians.

Near Rembrandt square the more gay party bars can be found.

Most places are open all week, but most of them only get real busy in weekends.
