The website for this place says:
"there are shows on Friday and Saturday starting around 22.00, with a minimum of 2 guys dancing and stripping. The shows last for about 2 hours in total. The guys move between the 2 stages as well as dancing on the bar…please feel free to chat to them. They are here for your entertainment. Additional shows are organized for Thursdays and Sundays at the same time depending on the time of year."
When me and my boyfriend last visited here 5 years ago this actually seemed to be the case and the place was very busy. When we revisited 3 weeks ago on a Friday night though, the place seemed completely dead. The shows we remembered didn't seem to be on either, but we thought they might get going a bit later.
Clientele when we first arrived consisted of a handful of old fat western men. Fair enough though we thought, you don't come to these sort of places for the socialising, and we are not pencil thin twinks by any means ourselves.
On going to the bar the slightly abrupt bartender made what sounded like a tempting offer of paying a reasonable flat fee for unlimited spirits and beer for that night, plus free admission for the Saturday. Only later were we to learn the offer didn't include even a small dash of any soft drinks to go with them. Something he had conveniently forgot to mention at the time. Soft drink were not cheap by any means. Sharp practice? Most Probably, but we could of forgave that if the place delivered on the expectations generated from our last time there.
Time went on until eventually it was getting to nearly 11pm...Still no shows though and hardly any new customers had arrived (by this time 5 years prior things had well started to motor) We thought therefore it would only be prudent that we should ask the bartender if there was going to be any entertainment that night "I don't know" he replied!! This was obvious nonsense. There wasn't going to be any entertainment, but he knew the place would lose what few customers it had if he told the truth.
I can't comment on what might have happened had we had gone back on the Saturday with our (pretty worthless) free admission. I can't imagine it would of been much different though. Needless to say we didn't bother.
We were only in Prague for a week on holiday and the night time stripper entertainment had been one of the things we were really looking forward to. It was therefore completely unforgivable for Drakes website to make the bold statements at the start of our review if this is no longer the reality of what their establishment offers.
Luckily it was not too late for us to raise anchor and make it over to Escape Club across the river before it got too late. Ignore whatever bad reviews you might of read for this place, it was just as good, if not better than it had been 5 years earlier. Drinks WERE expensive, but admission was low, there was no minimum consumption amount, staff were friendly, decor smart and the boys fit, raunchy and very approachable.
I hear Drakes is owned by a former porn producer who retired to Prague and has since come back out of retirement. All I can say is if this is true it is obvious that his eye must be on other things and not this place anymore.
If you want sexy entertainment FORGET Drakes would be our advice. Escape is 100% better.
