The Parada do Orgulho GLBT de Sao Paulo, in Portuguese, has grown from 2,000 participants in 1997 to 2,5 million in 2006, when they made to the Guinness Book, for the world’s biggest Gay Pride celebration. 4 million people are expected for 2010.
The Gay Pride Parade in Sao Paulo usually happens on the Sunday right after the Corpus Christis holiday.
Traditionally there is always a Gay Day at Hopi Hari Amusement Park, as well as a Lesbian Parade on the Saturday before and a Big Event on Thursday at the Anhangabaú Valley (DOWNTOWN) with many shows, food stands and gay business stands all day long. Many movies, theaters and other gay events throughout the week, like a gay marathon (Corrida pela Diversidade).
