Anthropoly ... Un super bar à ne surtout pas rater lors de votre visite à PV !!! Les danseurs sont très beaux et très chauds, tout en restant très respectueux des clients.
Le meilleur bar gay de PV !

Hi Chirs,
I would say you are right if it was not for other comments on as well as on other review sites. It is not a secret that "extra activities" are happening in the private dance area....provided you pay a hefty price.
The men at this bar are by far the hottest I have seen at any strip joint... They will do just about anything for 20-30 pesos. From other comments I see that the main complaints are pickpockets. My response, DONT TAKE YOUR WALLET. I always ONLY carry cash in a pocket with a zipper or a button. It is just common sense... I will say that they are VERY pushy for cash, but who wouldn't be living with the mexican economy. I would push as hard as I could with prices the way they are down there. We learned to just say "maybe later" and they leave politely. Just so you know, the "private show" will go as far as you want so don't get too drunk. My partner and I went twice on our last trip and had a great time.
OH, and don't buy the strippers drinks!!!! It clearly says on the bathroom wall (not sure why no where else that I saw) that they charge the value of the drink plus a 30% extra charge. I think it was 30% but it was quite more expensive.
it was the best!....awsome dancers and great staff
was there the end of nov. beginning of dec. and the party that went on there around the pool was totally unbelievable!!!! was beautiful not to mention the beautiful people that i met there that spectacular night!!!!!was so great i had to come back in march again!!!! and it was just as fun!!
que tal el ambiente ahi..si hay sexo y eso me encantaria ir..
Tim, i live in PV and have been to antropology MANY times and have built a good relationship with many dancers and the owner. I find your story impossible to believe. but if this did happen you should call the owner immediately and tell him about this. offering "other services" is NOT allowed. so you should help keep this a clean and honest fun bar by reporting bad employees. the owners phone is on their website.
Thinking this would be a good dance club, I went and it wasn't. Hot guys stripping yes but you could see how much they clearly hated the mainly fat and ugly clientele who have to pay. Poor guys I thought.
Just don't fall for the private dance. They will cheat you. I paid 600 pesos for the private dance. For the first three minutes, the guy tried to sale me "other services" for extra money. And then 5 minutes into the dance, one of the workers came and called for him to go dance on the main stage. That's how they trick you. If you are not buying "other services" which could cost up to $150 US, they will find a reason to terminate the dance before the 10 minute time. BUT in all fairness, they have the best looking guys with the best looking body.
PacoPaco/Ranch is the place that you go when you want to be with the local gay Mexicans. It is a large place, with multiple levels, and many hidden corners.
Most hotels (particularly the Abbey Hotel) will give you a free pass to visit when you checkin. Otherwise it is $5USD/M$7-8) at the door. On the main floor is the dancefloor which often gives way to the drag shows that occur frequently.
The drag performers are not as polished (in the execution of the outfits, makeup, or lip-synching) as those at Manana or Blue Chairs, and they are in Spanish, but they are fun to watch and the crowd is totally enraptured by them. They are silent and mesmerized. There are two small bars on the main floor for a good stiff drink -- tequila, of course.
Upstairs, along the winding purple colored and mirrored stairwell, is another cave-like dancefloor with a small stage that looked like it was for karoake (a few video monitors hung from the ceiling), but I can't confirm that. It was sparcely crowded with decent house music as opposed to the spanish music on the main level. Further up will be the rooftop bar that has plenty of room and overlooks the street below. It was nice. The music sounded like the same music from the main floor, so spanish will fill your eyes. It was too loud though.
PacoPaco is fun if you don't mind it being for locals by locals. But, this is MEXICO. That's what you came for.
La Noche was cute and fantastic. It would fit well in any other gay city of the Americas: Miami, New York, DC, BA, Rio, SanFran, Montreal, Toronto. It is a small, intimate, cozy martini bar with a good list of exotic cocktails and tequilas. It is a bit higher style than many other places in PV, and a bit unexpected in its coolness factor.
It is similar to Halo in Washington, DC and Miami or XL in NYC before it closed. Well lit with ambient purples, greens, blue, orange lighting with small tables and benches in the center floor to see and be seen.
There is a very tiny elevated table for a very tiny person to dance and charm the patrons. The dancer there looked like he had just done his legs and abs today at the gym. Very nice!
La Noche is close to the many other bars and clubs in the area. A quick walk around the corner will lead you to PacoPaco/Ranch and Manana, which are both must-dos.
It can get a bit crowded, especially after 11p.m. when the other bars are getting ready for the night. But if dancing the night away is not your thing, a drink at La Noche is still a fun part of a good night.
This bar is a great meeting spot to get a still (if not a bit expensive, $8 USD/M$90) drink before you go dancing or cruising. I was happy with each visit.
Well, no gay visit to Puerto Vallarta is complete without an afternoon at the famous Blue Chairs. Surprisingly, many of the reviews from other sites often are negative about the 'ole Blue, but I think they were either expecting too much or just didn't know how to have a good time. I found the hotel and the beach connected to it to be just fine. It's where all the boys are.
The style of the hotel is Mediterranean/Spanish with terra cotta tiled floors, arched doorways, and white stucco walls. It was very pleasant. The small reception area is manned 24/7 by an attendent that either looked always bored or overwhelmed. Once there, take the very small elevator to the roofdeck for the various shows, bar and entertainment. Or, you can walk the six flights up.
The rooftop bar itself is small, with a manager who always seemed to be counting money, perhaps from the days receipts. I thought it was strange to always be counting money at the bar vs in a some backroom out of sight, but we are in Mexico. Who knows? The drinks are as you would find in most bars, and at typical prices for Mexico which, with the exchange rates for the US and Canada, is a fantastic deal. Very easy to get a good buzz in Mexico. Hear that Canada!?!
The bartenders don't universally speak english so just say tequila and know a few other basic words for fruit or vodka and you will be fine. I had a different bartender each time so I can't fully gage the cuteness factor. They all were okay, if not unmemorable.
The nightly entertainment usually consists of "The Dirty Bitches" who were fantastic. They speak english and are very funny. Three of the most drag divalicious performers you will see in PV. The stage is actually some wooden boards that cover the small pool, so don't expect to use the pool anytime after 5 p.m. when the bar opens, chairs are put in place for the evenings events. The are tables and chairs in front of the stage that fill quickly, and stools and benches along the perimeter so you will likely have a good view of the action. The acts usually start around 8 pm and go for about an hour, but often they will start early, so don't me be a slave to time -- no Mexican is. Other nights, the stage is full of hunky (albeit a bit short) dancers doing routines in various stages of undress. They are all buff and sexy, but not all gay. (Oops, I think I told you a secret). Either way, tip well -- since you will see them at most of the other venues in PV later that night... and those little buggers remember!
On some nights, however, it is really slow and the roof may be empty or close to it. Read the schedule posted in the lobby and you will be fine.
The rooftop bar is a great place to meet friends before you venture to PVs numerous clubs and bars. It is definitely worth visiting. In fact, it is doubtful you will be able to stay away while visiting.
The Blue Seas resort is next door to the Blue CHAIRS hotel and beach. A bit of friendly competition is bound to make them work harder to attract the gay dollar (or peso). Blue Seas is newer, and a bit more polished than its next door neighbor, but it doesn't have the reputation (or entertainment factor) of the Blue Chairs hotel.
Blue Seas is relatively new with a very nice open air, full service, restaurant on the beach. It is not as crowded as Blue Chairs and seems to have a bit more of a mix of clientele (read it is not exclusively gay as the Blue Chairs appears to be).
The restaurant is small, with an enclosed area when it gets chilly outside. The drinks were good and the waitstaff (many of whom you will see in the bars and clubs later that night) were friendly, although with all the boys around, they were not as attentive as you may hope. Que sera, sera.
Between the three major hotel beach resorts (Blue Chairs, Blue Seas and The Hotel Abbey), you will find they are largely indistinguishable while at the beach, although Blue Chairs is the most crowded of the three, and Abbey Hotel is actually a block up the hill, but they have managed to get a prime spot on the beach.
The rooms are nice and not as small as you would imagine. In fact, I found the rooms at the Blue Chairs, Abbey and Blue Seas to be nice for the money. Don't expect Five Stars, but for a fun weekend in the sun, it is really not bad.
The men at Blue Seas (like the others around it) range from very old and flabby to hunky and hot, and a few good examples of everything in between. Speedos were on those you want to see them on and on plenty of guys you don't! But that's just about anywhere. Leave judgement at home and have a good time!
