Legendary cruise bar at the gay avenue at 8th in Chelsea which is there for more than 30 years. Like most of its visitors.....It's cruisy and dark. Go-go boys around seven nights a week

In the center of the Chelsea gayborhood, this tiny, smelly, dot of a place has a lot going on, but not necessarily in a good way. For one it's about as big as postage stamp and after pushing through a heavy rubber tarp to get in (it apparently is designed to keep out light, and fresh air) you will see a stage (which I am pretty sure is a crate) with a small dancer on it, a pinball machine or some device that occupies valuable space, and a cowboy/western theme.
They make a mean drink though -- I guess to get the boys too drunk to fight that damn tarp to get out.
I don't know, it is just an odd place. Don't go expecting a cowboy that the name Rawhide would imply. You might get a tired troll or a dancer working for tips until it's time to meet his friends at Alegria. Great location though.
