Canal Street

Manchester was put on the map by the Queer As Folk series about 4 gay boys wondering around Canal Street. The Gay Strip offers some of the biggest gay bars and clubs in the UK. Best time to go is during Gay Pride (the last weekend of August).

Manchester gay pride

Best time to go is during Manchester Gay Pride, mostly held at the last weekend of August (Friday till Monday). The whole block of the Gay Village where all the gay bars and clubs are is sealed off for 4 days.

Gay Pride in Manchester is 4 days of partying from early afternoon till very late at night. There’'s a lot to do for everyone: for people liking the bars, for clubbers, for lesbians, bears, leather guys etc. Everything comes together in the Gay Village. It's definitely worth the visit.

Been to Naps a few times and always had a good time that was until a couple of Fridays ago Arrived at approx 22.20 and the person on the door told me I could not enter as I had had to much to drink. I had had 1 1/2 pts of larger I did not make a fuss but sent an e- message from the webb site to the manager but sadly he could not bother to reply so I sent another and still no answer. Sadly now I cannot write a review of what it is like inside

As it is a members club that is why you are asked for some personal info. No staff to explain where everything is located. Seeing as it was Pride weekend they were two staff down so staff from Leeds had to cover. They were a bit rushed off their feet. No card machine in the cafe. So had to ask for cash back at the front desk although not standard practice. So thank you on that part. 2 guys ejected due to drugs one who was completely wasted and an ambulance was called. Found a used needle in the toilets. No rest areas to snooze which should be allowed. I lay on one of the sofas to watch the TV and was abruptly told to sit up. WTF! Is this a prison or leisure facility? Dirty outside the shower and sauna areas with what looked like dirt from the black style rugs which are down. Spa pools are nice but could have been warmer. In some off the cabins the doors don't lock. The venue itself us good compared to others i have been too. Rob shop on stite too which is helpful. Some things need a little work on but overall i had fun.

Most of the comments are harsh. "STRAIGHT" CLUBBERS HAVE LOADS AND LOADS OF VENUES TO GO AND I FEEL INTIMIDATED BY DRUNK,DRUGGED STRAIGHT MEN. THIS IS WHEN THE STRAIGHT POPULATION SHOW THEIR TRUE COLOURS.
I went there with my partner last year and had a smashing time. Only downside for us in mid age, perhaps a little too young Apart from that fine. Gay should mean what it says Gay.If these people want to take their straight friends out then go to one of their straight clubs and get glassed.
