Beware of the small waiter when paying with a 50euro note. He drops his glasses down the side of the chair which he uses as an excuse for not being able to see when he only gives you change for 20euros. This has happened twice

Rien à dire, excellente semaine de la gay pride...les gens arrivent de partout et n'ont qu'un seul but : s'amuser dans la bonne humeur. A faire et refaire sans modération :)
Na Und Gay Bar in two adjacent bars: on the right you have the larger dancing area. They mostly place German music which is certainly not everybody's taste. It is a little bit out-dated I would say you and really have to be 70plus to like that. Alright for a night, but not every night the same. Yet, that is a matter of personal taste.
On the right side, you have a smaller "cruise" bar, alas with a zero cruise factor.
The problem with the bar is: you do not feel welcome. You feel pushed to order a drink immediately. Most of the waiters (except the tatooed english muscle guy who is very friendly) make a you uncomfortable even walking around. If your idea of having a fun night out consists of sitting on a terrace where most guys around you smoke, and you have ear-worm music German music repetitively playing the same tracks each night: this might be the place.
But if you want to meet someone is a little bit more anonymous way without having to indulge in a long conversion, or want to have a littlle bit of a grope - then this place is useless.
If they did not have that little foreign waiter, the romanian or bulgarian or whatever he is guy with the "dropped" trousers, who is walking up and down and up and down the right side of the terrace, it might be better. This waiter is very unfriendly and much too aggesive with his service. As a matter of fact, the stands around like a policeman and makes everybody feel uncomfortable. Even when a busy night, that part of the bar is half deserted. You can easily observe the situation just walking by.
Therefore, the darkroom is underfrequented because the old blokes feel too self-conscious going in. And hardly anyone sits at the bar inside, which is very untypical of this type of establishment. The situation charges drastically the day he is off. Then the place is being serviced by the tatooed muscle guy and that night you also see slightly more people. Not a lot more, but a few more hanging around the bar area.
With Hummel Hummel closed, Na Und is missing on all those guys who are looking for fun and have no place to go. The right side of the darkroom cruise area should be packed with gents enjoying themselves and the bar should be bustling. Problem here is the waiter - and I admit, me and my friends avoid the place only because of the waiters. It a shame.
Andone feels the same?
The large right side of Hummel Hummel is closed and the location is up for rent. It will not open again.
The smallish left side of Hummel Hummel bar has re-opened 3rd May.
Aparently being taken over by the 2 Spanish waiters Calisto and the other tall guy. On their night of the opening, they already had a major row with a guest who walked in and apparently did not order a drink immediately. It was a most pathetic scene organised by the barmen, especially for the first opening night - when they should have welcomed everyone back.
The cruising factor has dropped to zero. The place is no good since the toilet-darkroom is right behind the bar and is fully policed by the waiters.
Which makes the elderly gentlemen, who used to have a little bit of fun in the larger darkroom, very selfconscious about going in.
The place is now very boring.
Give it a miss, it is not worth it. At the moment, there are no decent bars where elderly men can have a little bit of fun.
A real loss Playa del Ingles, because most people do not only go for a drink (can have that at home, thank you) - but for a grope and a bit of excitement.
Great music
Still the very best in its kind on the island. Very clean, nice (outdoor)smoking area, and not over-crowded. Good prices and real brands. Been there several times (04/2012) and always a nice mix of (about 30-50) hot horny men of all ages. Remarkable real friendly staff.
After been closed for a while now (04-2012) open again, but as they have no luck with attracting gay tourist they focus now on the straight people on 'gay safari'. Very pushy/annoying female propper. Unable to hold any conversation inside as you have the full mix of the music of all the bars underneath and in front combined with their attempt to go louder.
closed from april 2012, uncertain if it will re-open
we love rickys bar, (my husband and i, we r both straight) they are so funny and good, we try to go to gran canaria twice a year, mainly for this bar, (and the sand dunes and weather, if you have not been to ricky,s bar you must go they are brilliant and funny, but if you can,t take a joke do not sit at the front,
Wolte nur sagen auch nach 9Wochen Hospital werde ich bald bei Euch auftauchen-denn wie heisst es in einem Lied - denn er lebt noch---
will be there this year may 9th
had fantastic time at gio friendly guys would recomend
Went to Chaps a couple of times during my stay in Playa late January. Not the busiest mens bar around but compared to the others, had more fun. The other mens bars seemed busier but not a lot happening. Too many "Look but dont touch " brigade.I think the busier a place is the more nothing happens. I found with Chaps a steady flow of guys all night. Had a bit of fun with the bar man as well. Nice hairy canarian ;)
Closed (temporarily ??)
Already closed for over a year. Now called bar rendezvous
Been there twice, oct 2011 and januar 2012 and on both occasions bar was almost empty. Only about 5 persons in... Indeed very big venue but maybe the general feeling of entering (that part of) the Cita at night scares lots off.... On those same nights cellar was crowded as usuall. Hope they can revitalize it.
I went Feb 2011. Goin Feb 2012 so will be interestin to see if it's changed. I liked this place because: it was somewhere different from the Yumbo, it was horny and it was CLEAN!!On the 2 nights I visited, there weren't loads of guys there, but enough horny ones to have a nice time. I find the Cellar too packed so this seemed kinda less-pressured, less-hurried, less-desperate.It had only been opened for 2 months when I went so difficult to judge how successful it was gonna get.I wish them luck
