gay tourist guide to Amsterdam

Music and Theatre

The Concertgebouw (Royal Concert Hall) presents the best classical orchestras in the world. Are you into ballet or opera, check out the schedule of the Muziektheater, located right next to City Hall on the Amstel River.

The spectacular Muziekgebouw Aan 'T IJ offers more contemporary music and jazz. Just pop by to see the building and enjoy the terrace with view on the IJ harbour on a sunny day. It will offer you one of the most spectacular views in the city.

The main theatre in the city is the Royal Carre Theatre on the Amstel river, with big shows and productions, sometimes even in English.

The Leidseplein Area could be named as the new theatre district in town, with the Stadsschouwburg (plays, dance), DeLaMar (popular shows, plays and musicals), Boom Chicago (English and American comedy) and Paradiso and De Melkweg, both popular music venues with a broad line up of concerts and shows.
