The only large gay sauna in Amsterdam with a big reputation too. Thermos is open from midday till early in the morning. Featuring 4 floors of fun, swimming pool, bar and Beauty Salon, all day and all night long.
On 30 September 2008, Thermos Night moved to Thermos Day, with longer opening hours.

Nu de nachtsauna in het dagpand zit is het niet een kwart zo leuk meer. De toiletten zijn buitengewoon smerig en tussen die paar gekke houten schotten bovenin (moet dat een darkroom voorstellen ?) wil je niet dood gevonden worden! Laat de eigenaar maar eens een paar honderdtjes investeren in een veel spannender darkroom. Die kan hij makkelijk terugverdienen door wat lagere wattage lampen te gebruiken in de turkse sauna, want die lijkt nu meer op de behandelkamer in een veeartspraktijk.

Bepaalde punten van de sauna kunnen beter, maar over het algemeen toch een goede plek om je vermaken. Die versleten matrassen mogen ze idd wel eens vervangen. Bij de gesloten Thermos Night hebben ze er nog genoeg goeie liggen. Wat ik nog mis daar zijn kleine glory hole cabines. Er zijn er nu een paar op de 3e verdieping, maar dat is wel de rookzone. En meestal zijn die bezet door stelletjes. Personeel is erg aardig en nog steeds unieke plek in Amsterdam.

I agree with these last 2 reviews..the sauna Thermos is really showing its age...not only the building but also the people who use it. what amuses me is all the awards the Thermos has won...its not impossible to be the best if your the only contestant...is it not like in all other major capitals in Europe...London,Paris,Berlin etc that we in Amsterdam should be enjoying also a choice of saunas instead of always having to end up here at the Thermos...maybe the owner after many years of filling is pockets from the gay community should invests some of his (our) money back into making the Thermos...also Amsterdam gaylife better then it as ever been. You know he only as to take alook across the water to London...Sweatbox Soho...Chariots..and Pleasuredome...are good examples...even in Manchester the Basement sauna is a very good example of what he could be doing to improve the situation....so come on gays of Adam,,,,its time to stop sleeping and hiding away till the next Gay Pride...and now to start waking up....otherwise they ll be
a day when you stand in front of the Thermos doors only to be reading the closure notice.
