Shops
At the Leidsestraat, Kalverstraat and Nieuwendijk, you'll find all the well known retailers like H & M, Zara and Mexx, so they don't offer a lot of excitement. When you are looking for something really special, go to the Negen Straatjes (Nine Little Streets) between Singel and Prinsengracht. Here you'll find little boutique shops, designer outlets and more surprising stuff.
Do visit De Bijenkorf at the Dam Square. Amsterdams biggest department store. It offers all the brands for decent prices, which a range of products from fashion to CD's to designer furniture.
When you're more of a fashion victim type of guy, and when you think it is all in the name of the brand, go to the PC Hooftstraat. This is where all the people with a thick wallet spend their money and where you can bump into famous Dutch persons. At the PC you can find all the designer brands like Boss, DKNY, Gucci and Prada. This is where you want to be seen.
The following shops all cater the gay consumer: from leather and fetish gear to gay books and videos.
Black Body – Lijnbaansgracht 292 Well-known leather and rubber shop on the Lijnbaansgracht. Extensive collection of rubber and leather clothes and accessories. And an extensive collection of toys.
Condomerie – Warmoesstraat 141 This was the first exclusive condom shop. The Condomerie has even condoms in your size! :)
DOM – Spuistraat 281 The most campy store in town, with designer goodies, clothing, furniture, trendy give aways and other stuff you don't need but desperately want to have. Full gay staf.
Intermale – Spuistraat 251 The rainbow flags which hang out over the street when Intermale is open pinpoint one of the largest bookshops in Europe offering exclusively gay and gay-related titles - and the largest bookshop in Amsterdam devoted entirely to books of interest to the gay male.
Mr. B – Warmoesstraat 89 Mr. B is known throughout the gay world for its famous tee-shirts. The original of this famous leather shop is here in Amsterdam, right in the heart of Warmoesstraat.
Pinkpoint – Westermarkt 9 Gay shop and information center at the Homomonument, staffed by volunteers. Pink Point started life as a converted ice-cream cart during the Gay Games of 1998 in Amsterdam. It has a wide range of information and flyers from local organisations, as well as one of the best selections of queer souvenirs and gifts in Holland.
RoB – Warmoesstraat 71 This famous gay leather and rubber shop just moved to a new location in the Warmoesstraat.
The Fabulous Stringslip – Reguliersdwarsstraat 59 Tourist always look very suprised in the shop window of The Fabulous Stringslip in such a decent street as Reguliersdwarsstraat. Alls sorts of (very gay) underwear, swimwear and toys can be found here.

Vrolijk – paleisstraat 135 Since 1984, Gay & Lesbian bookstore Vrolijk has been one of the biggest and best-known gay/lesbian bookshops in Europe, with 2 floors. They also have a large gay DVD collection. The store is located behind the Queen's Palace on Dam Square.
Adonis Cinema – Warmoesstraat 92 Gay cinema with couches and a large screen. The cinema entrance is in the back of the adult shop.
