Pink Istanbul is an Art & Dance event linking the scenes of Istanbul and Amsterdam, for Turks and non Turks, gays, lesbians and straights, to celebrate the Turkish gay scene, here in Amsterdam and to celebrate the Dutch gay scene in Istanbul.
With DJ's from Amsterdam and Istanbul (pop, house, techno/ethnic), dance performances and audio-visual Art, Uncomfortable cliches and weird stuff...
We missed out last time, but were there with our lebanese and spanish friends. It isn't a Turkish party only, altough there were ofcourse lot's of Turkish gay guys (and girls). The music was indeed very diverse, from fine electro and dance tunes to rather funny (but very nice) oriental and turkish music. Actually, it is a very nice mix of all. The trendy guys can stay away if they don't like it. There is too much of human contact going on at this party anyway, so they wouldn't like it i suppose :-))

well, we liked it a lot cause there were 3 rooms with all kinds of music. DJ's were from most scenes of Holland and also from Turkey. There was indeed commercial music, but also very nice electro/disco and italo-ish sounds and an amazing room with turkish/arabic music and guys. The basement rocked with DJ Ipek from Berlin - our favourite and nothing commercial at all! We also went to BAF, but the atmosphere there was very much nozes up in the air and the same sound going on all night long. If you like that, it is good music but I think that without the additives, nobody has a party over there!
by the way; where can we find the pictures taken @ PI? We want to see ours :-)))

My expectation was 'surprise me'. My opinion after the party; this was one of the best gay parties of the year. Especially because of the warm atmosphere, the images of Istanbul and the beautiful people at the party. A good mix of audience, music, arts and dance. It was nice to see so many proud young turkish gay guys with their friends. And not only Turks, but also some lebnese and moroccan gays were there. Pink Istanbul should definitely come back!
