Bar Arc is a large trendy and stylish bar and finger food restaurant in the Reguliersdwarsstraat. It's popular with the trendy gay guys and also a good place to bring your female friends.
During the week, this is the perfect place to have a coffee and a few drinks with friends from Amsterdam.
In the weekend it gets really busy at eleven.
In the summer there is a popular terrace on the street. Every day Happy Cocktail Hour between 17:00 and 19:00 and Wednesday cocktail night.
The Arc is my bar-of-choice to meet up with my friends before we go to parties. It is quite large by Amsterdam-standards and has a very open-minded atmosphere where many people (not just gays) will find themselves at home. Pre-conceived people will definately feel threatened. :)
FYI, in NL is it really common that you pay for toilets. That is not just Arc or Soho, it is (almost) everywhere.
This is, without doubt, the most popular socalled trendy place in Amsterdam. It just shows how low dutch standards tend to be. The decor is badly thought out, the bar staff is unfriendly, and really there's no need to have a line outside the toilet on a busy night... pleas do something about that. After all you want us to pay don't you?
Again, like Soho, it might pay of to walk down to the end of the road to use the public toilet. Off course, only during the weekend.
Music is so so, and the space could do with a think over. Looking for warm and cosy, try somewhere else. Soho comes to mind.
